English Novelist Arnold Bennett once said:
“The real tragedy is the tragedy of the man who never in his life braces himself for his one supreme effort, who never stretches to his full capacity, never stands up to his full stature.”
It is a sad state of affairs really to think that people travel through their life on earth never living up to and experiencing their full potential…
What sort of a life is that to live really?
What sort of an existence, what sort of a burden does it weigh onto your conscience when you admit to yourself that in that moment, that you could have done better…
That you could have tried harder.
But you didn’t try.
You didn’t try in that moment to be the best that you could be…
You didn’t try in that moment to put in 100% effort into rescuing and turning around a result that many believed was a foregone conclusion.
A result that was achievable.
If only you’d given it your best…
I’m often drawn into the debate that….
I’m often drawn into the debate that Wednesday is considered to be the midpoint of the working week, and that because of this, a lot of people consider that midpoint to be HUMP DAY.
And that’s the day that they stop trying, because they’ve reached the midpoint of the week, and they cruise to the weekend.
Well that’s a pretty poor attitude to have.
That’s a pathetic mantra to adopt and to live by.
There’s a reason why it’s a five day work week and a two day weekend, rather than being a two day work week and a five day weekend.
Because people who work for five days rather than two get so much more done.
And people who cruise for five days and work only two, get overtaken in the achievement stakes by those who choose to give a five day week their best shot.
Relatively, people working only two days each week are in reality travelling in reverse away from their goals compared to those putting in five days’ worth of effort.
So the answer is entirely up to you…
If you want to achieve your best results, then you need to put in your very best effort for as many times as you possibly can.
Nobody ever reverses their way to success…
Why would you not want to give life it’s best shot?
Why would you not want to see how good you really are?
And to see how great you really can be?
